Brazil 2017-18 Coffee Output Seen Falling 2.5%: SocGen

(Bloomberg) — (Corrects last bullet point to say that SocGen estimate for coffee price was raised) Total coffee harvest seen at 54m bags in the next crop, down from 55.4m bags estimated for current season 2016-17, Societe Generale analyst Rajesh Singla says by e-mail.

* Arabica output seen at 40m bags vs 45.3m bags in 2016-17

* Robusta output seen at 14m bags vs 10.1m bags

* Impact of the biennial cycle on Brazil coffee crop has eased

significantly in recent years, SocGen said in e-mailed


* Yields seen declining 3% next season from 2016-17 level

* Socgen’s estimate for coffee price raised by 23.4% in 2017,

15% in 2018 on Brazilian farmer’s ability to hold stockpiles

amid lower inventories in the country
